Stop Brainwashing Workers On Paris Club Refund - Ekiti State APC Tells Ayo Fayose

APC in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of brainwashing the people of the state on the new payment of Paris Club Refund of N4.7bn.

The APC referred to the various meeting being held by the governor with workers and stakeholders as a “ploy to deceive the people”.

In a statement by the Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party said that Ekiti people are no longer deceived by the governor’s antics in always calling workers and other stakeholders to meetings to brainwash them on the state’s financial matters, stressing that such practice is a worn-out tactic to “fraudulently deny workers their salaries and con Ekiti people for selfish motives”.

The statement reads, 'the governor started his latest trick when he called Labour leaders to a meeting last month that Paris Club refund coming to the state would be N4.7b just to create the impression that he is running a transparent administration. We are aware that after collecting the money, he has started calling another round of meetings saying that  N4.7b Paris Club refund will not be enough to pay one month salary barely a month after he confessed that the actual Ekiti monthly wage bill is N1.7b and several months after he consistently lied that the state’s wage bill was N2.6b.”

He continued to say “the man that says he loves the people relies on lies to cheat the people while not compromising his own private comfort. Since the Paris Club and bailout issues became major sources of the state finances, Fayose is no longer talking about the state’s monthly statutory allocations of N1.9b and another monthly N1.3b Budget Support Facility he has taken for 11 months but which he diverted to purposes through which he can make personal gains.  Up till this moment, Fayose has refused to make public the state internally generated revenue (IGR) profile, which stood at N600m monthly during Kayode Fayemi’s administration before the governor (Fayose) increased rates and taxes paid by Ekiti people, including introducing fresh ones.  Even though we don’t know IGR figures, we wonder how a governor that rakes in N7.9b in a month through Paris Club N4.7b, Budget Support Facility of N1.3 and N1.9b in statutory allocation could be so callous to declare that the money he has won’t be able to pay one month salary at the time his counterparts in the neighbouring states are promising their workers to pay three months salaries with the current Paris Club refund'

“We wonder why a governor that is daily sacking workers while not employing fresh hands in the civil service would be so callous and mindless in his declaration that N7.9b, excluding the unknown IGR, will not be enough to pay one monthly salary. We know for a fact that so far, all bailouts and budget support facility cash that Fayose has taken were diverted to the flyover and new Oja Oba Market projects awarded to his Ibadan friends for selfish purposes, but like we warned last time, APC will play its role as a responsible opposition party to resist fraud and oppression in the interest of Ekiti people.

“It is on this note that as Governor Fayose is busy in his selfish and wicked manipulation of the people to short-change the state, we hereby reinstate our resolve to resort to the courts and street protests, which are lawful means of rejecting fraudulent and oppressive conducts of leaders, to ensure that Ekiti people get their share of the state’s wealth.”

OJ Simpson's Parole May Be In Jeopardy After He Was Caught Masturbating In His Prison Cell By A Female Corrections Officer

OJ Simpson risks being denied parole today after he was caught masturbating in his prison cell. This act is strictly forbidden in federal prisons in the U.S. and for this reason, the former athlete is facing a disciplinary hearing.
He was caught by a female corrections officer in June as she was making her rounds. Simpson was a model inmate ever since he entered Lovelock Correctional Center in 2008, until he was caught pleasuring himself. It is believed this might affect his parole hearing when he goes in front of the Nevada Department of Corrections Parole Board on Thursday.
A source told Dailmail: "While it's not the most serious charge to be written up for in prison, it's serious enough that any potential parole date may be delayed or his parole denied all together."
Most observers believe Simpson will be granted parole after meeting with the four DOC parole board members on July 20. He will appear remotely from Locklock in front of the four-member parole board in Carson City, Nevada, via video conference at 1 p.m.
Retired Clark County DA David Roger, who won convictions against Simpson in 2008 for robbery and kidnapping also believes Simpson will be paroled. He said the disgraced footballer has done enough time rotting inside a Nevada prison cell.
"The guy did a lot of time on a robbery charge, I expect he'll probably be paroled," Roger said.

Identity Of Police Officer, Who Shot Unarmed White Woman After She Called 911 To Report Hearing Noise Outside Her House, Revealed

The identity of the police officer, who shot a bride-to-be after she called 911 to report hearing noise outside her house in Minneapolis, has been revealed. He is Mohamed Noor, 31.
Mohamed is a black Muslim man, originally from Somali. He is the first Somali-American officer in his precinct. He shot and killed 40-year-old Justine Damond on July 15.

The shooting occurred as Justine, dressed in her pyjamas, approached the driver's side door to talk to the officer at the wheel after police arrived following her call. Officer Mohamed Noor, who was sitting in the passenger seat, fired his weapon across his partner and through the driver's side window, hiting the woman. The officers were not wearing a body cam at the time so there is no footage to show what caused him to shoot.
One of the officers present mentioned hearing fireworks being let off near where the shooting happened. Officer Matthew Harrity, 26, who was driving the police car, described the last moments of Ms Damond’s life to investigators. He said his partner was "startled by a loud sound" as the woman came around the corner, so he shot.
News Corp spoke to some residents who were in their houses around the crime scene on Saturday night and none of them had heard the gunshot or any other loud noises that sounded like fireworks.
Officer Mohamed has issued a statement extending his condolences to the family of the woman he shot. In the statement released by his attorney, the officer said he takes the family’s loss seriously and “keeps them in his daily thoughts and prayers.”
The statement read: “He came to the United States at a young age and is thankful to have had so many opportunities. He takes these events very seriously because, for him, being a police officer is a calling. He joined the police force to serve the community and to protect the people he serves. Officer Noor is a caring person with a family he loves and he empathizes with the loss others are experiencing.
"The current environment for police is difficult, but Officer Noor accepts this as part of his calling. We would like to say more, and will in the future. At this time, however, there are several investigations ongoing and Officer Noor wants to respect the privacy to the family and asks the same in return during this difficult period.”
The family of the officer have declared his innocence, saying Mohamed Noor had mistakenly shot her dead.
A family member said: “We feel so bad about this, we are traumatised ourselves. It’s so unfortunate. If you wait for the investigation you’ll know it was an honest and sincere event that transpired. Until then we can’t really say anything."
Speaking in Sydney, Justine's father John Ruszczyk said: "Justine was a beacon to all of us, we only ask that the light of justice shine down on the circumstances of her death."

Paris Club Refund – See How Much Each State Got

The federal government released a state-by-state breakdown of how the second tranche of the Paris Club refund was shared between states.

A statement released by the Federal government reads; “These payments, which totaled N243, 795,465,195, were made to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory upon the approval of the president on May 4, 2017.
“This is in partial settlement of long-standing claims by state governments relating to over-deductions from their Federation Account Allocation Committee for external debt service arising between 1995 and 2002.
“The funds were released to state governments as part of the wider efforts to stimulate the economy and were specifically designed to support states in meeting salary and other obligations, thereby alleviating the challenges faced by workers.
“The releases were conditional upon a minimum of 75 per cent being applied to the payment of workers’ salaries and pensions for states that owe salaries and pension.
“The Federal Ministry of Finance is reviewing the impact of these releases on the level of arrears owed by state governments.
“A detailed report is being compiled for presentation to the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as part of the process for approval for the release of any subsequent tranches.’’

Nigerian Army Alerts Public On Boko Haram's New Tactics In Suicide Bomb Attacks

The Nigerian Army has warned the public to be vigilant as Boko Haram terrorists have adopted new tactics such as abducting children, strapping them with suicide vests and sending them back home, where the suicide bomb detonates to kill members of the household.

A statement signed by Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director Public Relations, Theatre Command and issued on Monday in Bauchi, said another tactics devised by the insurgents is to create a fighting scene to cause people to gather around before detonating their explosives.

Full statement below:

Following regular interception of Boko Haram terrorists suicide bombers by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and the serial failures that have trailed their suicide bomb attacks, recent developments indicate that the terrorist group is now exploiting deceptive tactics to lure unsuspecting members of the public to target areas before detonating their suicide bomb in order to attain maximum casualty.
It has been observed that one of the tactics employed by the terrorists is to create a scene such as fighting with each other or any other person to attract attention and cause people to gather around them before they detonate their suicide bomb. Another antic is by abducting children who are on errands, strapping them with suicide vests and sending them back home, where the suicide bomb detonates to kill members of the household.
These deceptive tactics have been found to have played out in recent suicide bomb attacks carried out by the Boko Haram terrorists.
Members of the public are therefore urged to be wary of these tactics and avoid such unnecessary gatherings that could expose them to preventable danger. Additionally, all parents and adults are advised to sensitize their children and wards on these new Boko Haram tricks. They are also urged to be conscious of the whereabouts of their children and rein them in where necessary to prevent them from being callously used by the terrorists for the evil mission of suicide bombing.
Remember, "IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING"
You are please requested to disseminate this information to the general public through your various news media.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Pope Francis' Representative Arrives Nigeria Over Ahiara Diocese Crisis

Antonio Guido Filipazzi, the new Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, has arrived the country. Filipazzi, who was appointed by Pope Francis, is reportedly here to get the Diocese of Ahiara in Imo State to comply with the Pope's directives and accept Peter Ebere Okpaleke as their Bishop.
Though the Ahiara Diocese crisis is a priority, it isn't his only reason for being here. He is the Pope's direct representative to Nigeria and, as such, he is like an ambassador here and is expected to be in the country a lot. While he is here, he is expected to make priests in the Ahiara Diocese, who refused to accept Peter Ebere Okpaleke as their Bishop due to tribal sentiments, to cooperate with the church.
The Ahiara Diocese crisis came about because a Bishop of Anambra State origin (Okpaleke) was posted to the Diocese of Ahiara in Imo State as their Bishop. This incensed the Catholic priests in Imo State who feel they have priests within the state capable of occupying that position. SInce Bishop Okpaleke was posted in 2012, he has met rejection from the priests and lay faithful who are originally from Imo State.

School Girl, 16, Who Ran Away From Home In Germany To Join ISIS Last Year Is Captured In The Ruins Of Mosul Alongside Women Wearing Suicide Vests

A teenage German schoolgirl who ran away from home a year ago to join ISIS has been captured in the ruins of Mosul in Iraq. Linda Wenzel, 16, from Pulsnitz, near Dresden, Germany was among 20 ISIS followers captured after Mosul fell following a ten-month battle which left 25,000 Jihadists dead.

Linda was found last Thursday in a tunnel system in Mosul in the company of ISIS' fearsome all-female police force, some of whom were wearing suicide vests and had automatic weapons. Women from Russia, Turkey, Canada, and Chechnya were also among those found and captured as the military carried out mopping-up operations.

Before Linda fled Germany, she had been unhappy at home so she turned to Islam and soon began engaging with ISIS followers in the Middle East on Internet chat rooms.  She changed her name to Mariam and began to wear a headscarf in her Facebook photos. Her friends told police she had started learning Arabic, taking the Koran to school, wearing conservative clothing and becoming fascinated with Islam. This led to her being put under observation by the German intelligence officials.  She is believed to have fallen in love with a Muslim man she met online who persuaded her to move to Syria to join him. She left Germany by posing as her mother Catherine and flying from Frankfurt to Turkey, before making her way into Syria. Before fleeing, Linda told her mother she was going to stay with friends but instead forged a letter pretending to be Catherine which allowed her to withdraw money from the bank.

Authorities in Germany say they are examining the photos of the girl captured in Mosul to determine if it is actually Linda Wenzel. Newspaper Die Welt, citing security sources, said they are sure the captive girl is definitely Linda.

Photo: Woman Convicted Of Killing Her 77-year-old Mother, Says She "just Decided To Take Her Life"

A 55-year-old woman who killed her mother by giving her an overdose of drugs and smothering her with a pillow has been found guilty of causing her death.
Shirley D'Silva of Morland Road, Croydon pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Monday, 17 July to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She will be sentenced at the same court on Tuesday, 18 July.
On 25 October 2016 at about 16:10hrs, D?Silva dialled 999 and told the operator that she had just killed her 77-year-old mother Martha Pereira at the home they shared.
When the operator asked what happened, she replied:
"Erm, nothing happened. I just decided to take her life."
When the operator asked D?Silva "what made you do this today?" she replied:
''It's the world we live around. We've been suffering too long. Nobody's doing nothing about it. Somebody has to come forward and do something about it."
D?Silva told the operator her mother had been unwell for a long time. Later on in the call when asked by the operator "did you do it because you don't think you were getting the help you needed?" she replied:
"No, no. It's not, it's not that. It's about the world, the war around the world going on.'
D?Silva remained on the phone until officers arrived at the scene.
She remained calm at first and when asked what happened, D?Silva told officers:
"I have just killed my mother. I have given her an overdose of insulin and I have suffocated her with a pillow."
Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service carried out CPR on Mrs Pereira but she was pronounced dead a short time later at a south London hospital.
A post-mortem examination showed the cause of death was consistent with an insulin overdose and smothering.
D?Silva was arrested on suspicion of murder at 16:18hrs on 25 October. She was charged on 27 October. When interviewed by officers D?Silva told them a man had told her to kill her mother, and he was now telling her to kill her husband and son.
Detective Sergeant Brendan Ward, the investigating officer from the Met?s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said:
"This is a very sad case and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family at this difficult time."

Banned Videos: APC Youths Attack Peter Okoye For Slamming The Federal Government, Calls For His Arrest

A group in the All Progressives Congress(APC) known as APC youth renaissance, has called for the arrest of Peter Okoye of P-Square, for going on twitter to attack the Federal Government, over plans to ban entertainers from shooting musical videos and movies outside the shores of Nigeria.
After the announcement was made, a few celebrities took to their social media pages to react to the federal government's intending policy in the entertainment industry, but it is Peter Okoye of P-square who's getting poked at.
In a statement released by the group's national secretary, Collins Edwin, the youth group went as far as describing Peter as a 'son of darkness'. Read the full statement below

"We read the scurrilous remarks credited to Mr Peter Okoye of the Psquare group against the Federal Government's job-saving policy in the entertainment industry with great anger and vexation. Least of all persons to make scathing remark against the government is the Psquare group which the local content policy of the Federal Government dusted-up from the valley of obscurity. Where was Peter Okoye or Psquare brand in 1999 when foreign music dominated our airwaves? If not for the government policy which mandated all broadcast stations in Nigeria to pay attention to Nigerian music by playing 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day, would Peter Okoye or Psquare be known to anybody in Nigeria today? Or would they have competed with better American music which dominated our airwaves then? After the government have used its policy to brush them up from nothing to something; instead of giving opportunity to other people, they are taking Nigerian jobs to foreign countries through the shooting of music videos abroad. Now that government have intervened to raise great and better entertainers again, Peter Okoye has the gut to insult the entire Federal Government by calling our great leaders 'Ndi Ala' which means mad and stupid people. How dare you say that Psquare? We, therefore, urge the security agencies in the country to arrest Mr Peter Okoye for disrespecting our government and bringing it to a disrepute. If you cannot produce in Nigeria and hire Nigerians, then leave the industry. We must export Nigerian culture to the outside world through our music and videos".
